AXEL

In Engineering terms, the angle between the two wings of a Paper Airplanes is called Dihedral. If your Airplane wings from the Frontal view look like ‘Y’ it is Dihedral and if it looks like ‘A’ it is Anhedral. Positive dihedral in Paper Airplane flies best. Small pinch lifts at the rear end of Paper Airplane designs will help the Airplane to go up and down. They are called Elevators. Paper Airplanes have elevators that will fly higher and longer, down elevators prevent aeroplanes from Stalling. Axel paper airplane is a prime dart that has a high speed and sleek design that knows how to escape through the veins of air, Scroll down to learn about axel paper airplane from Liftndrift

Two minutes for Noodles! isn’t it? Three minutes for Paper planes! It’s that simple with liftndrift*

Supplies Required:

  • A4 Sheet of Paper or a Foolscap Paper with 70-90 GSM
  • Ruler or Flat thick object to flatten the folded edges to make a strong crease.

Step 1:

  • Keep the A4 sheet of paper in Portrait orientation and fold them from Left to Right equally as shown in Fig.1
  • UNFOLD them once done.

Step 2:

  • Now bring the Top Left-hand edge and Top Right-hand edge to the center crease
  • Make sure you don’t cross the center line

Step 3:

  • Valley fold the Top-Left and top-right diagonal edges to the centre crease as shown in Fig.3
  • Once done UNFOLD them

Step 4:

  • Fold the Right and left edges on the newly made crease as shown in Fig.4
  • Make sure you match the edges to the newly made adjacent crease

Step 5:

  • Now, Roll and fold them back again inside, Just like in the picture in Fig.5

Step 6:

  • Look at Fig.6 the distance from the Nose to the bottom of the triangle
  • Divide them into three and fold 1/3rd of the section down (Yellow dot to Yellow dot)

Step 7:

  • Mountain Fold the paper airplane into half as the arrows directed but check for their symmetry

Step 8:

  • It’s the time to make the wing – The Length of the wing should match the length of the fuselage
  • Fold the Diagonal top section to the straight bottom section – Straight to straight and Fold it
  • Do the same for the other side too

Step 9:

  • Lift the wings up to make it look like ‘T’
  • Compare Fig.9 and Fig.10 for your reference

Step 10:

  • Yeah! Axel is ready for the show, Let’s dive into the fun!

Axel Paper Airplane Flying Technique:

Hold the Plane behind the center of the plane’s gravity center
Keep your left foot slightly forward and launch it at a 30 – 40-degree angle, and throw it steadily with a medium force. If it fails, tweak the tail wing slightly up and try again.
Try different angles and forces now! Wow, That’s how one learns properly with more trying and flying. Kudos!
