Making the Paper airplane using the proper steps doesn’t mean it has to fly properly, Pre-flight you need do some checks and tweaks which needs to be done. Paper Airplane won’t fly properly unless it’s straight. Calibrate their alignment and tweak their wings, winglets, fin and tail until it is aligned, flat and straight. Test fly the paper airplane by launching them at 45 degrees and watch their flying pattern, if it nose dives, dive back – you will have to tweak again until they fly well and they are straight! Now, Hill drop paper airplane can be used as a perfect tester, it doesn’t mean that it’s not a great flyer. But it does pretty well in the air just like the best paper airplanes! Supplies Required:
- A4 Sheet of Paper or a Foolscap Paper with 70-90 GSM
- Ruler or Flat thick object to flatten the folded edges to make a strong crease.
Step 1:
- The first step is keeping your paper in horizontal — orientation over a table or over a flat surface
- Fold it from left to right and UNFOLD
Step 2:
- Bring the Top Right-hand edge and Top Left-hand edge to the centre crease and fold them
Step 3:
- Bring the Nose down to the bottom of the paper and align it with the centre line and fold them (Yellow dot to dot)
- Once done, UNFOLD them
Step 4:
- Fold the nose down to the crease you just made in Step 3
Step 5:
- Now Divide the small triangle into half and fold them
- Refer Fig.5 for your doubts
Step 6:
- Now roll down the top folded section as shown in the Fig.6
Step 7:
- Mountain fold the Levitator Paper airplane into Half and check for their symmetry
Step 8:
- Now, make the wings by folding about an inch from the bottom on both sides of the plane
Step 9:
- All set! Find a Good spot for your hill drop plane to fly – Consider Open ground, or school auditorium its all a possibility
- Get Set GO!
Hill drop flying technique:
- Hold the Plane behind the centre of the plane’s gravity centre
- Keep your left foot slightly forward and launch it in 30 – 40 degrees angle, throw it steadily with a medium force. If it fails, tweak the tail wing slightly up and try again.
- Try different angles and forces now! Wow, That’s how one learns properly with more trying and flying. Kudos!
