Wait what??? Why are you talking about failing now? There is a reason behind this pep talk! Actually talking best paper airplane design can be made after many successive failures. For you to really make a good paper plane, you should try different techniques and folds to achieve greater flight. For knowing more about aircraft and their techniques please refer aerodynamics in the menu section. And this reconn is one of the most successful Paper plane even at the first attempt. The steps are a little lengthy but, it serves their purpose well.
Best lessons are learnt, maybe only after failing!
Two minutes for Noodles! isn’t it? Three minutes for Paper planes! It’s that simple with liftndrift*
Supplies Required:
- A4 Sheet of Paper or a Foolscap Paper with 70-90 gsm
- Ruler or Flat thick object to flatten the folded edges to make a strong crease.
Step 1:
- First step is keeping your paper in horizontal — orientation over the table
- Valley fold it.
Step 2:
- Valley fold the sections as shown in the Fig.2
- But don’t cross the center crease. I’m warning you mate!
Step 3:
- Now, rotate your paper to the backside
- Make two valley folds like it is shown in the picture
Step 4:
- You will get an extended dragon-like section on the top. Don’t worry nothing went wrong.
- Fold the two sections to the centre line like shown in the Fig.4
Step 5:
- Now fold the top sharp edge mentioned by a circle to the centre dot
- Just like where the arrow shows.
Paper Airplane facts: “Adding frontal weight to the paper airplane makes them fly better and further on heavy launches.”
Step 6:
- Now fold the other one extended area to the centre dot as like shown in the Fig.6
- Just few folds to fly!
Step 7:
- Next step feels little confusing, if you are a kid like me you can ask for your mom’s help to understand.
- Fold the rounded edge and insert it to the other side’s socket
- It is possible only by closing the model, Just fold the whole reconn plane to the center line and try to insert it to the other side.
Step 8:
- Valley fold both sides to make the wings.
- Refer the line and assume the same distance for folding.
Step 9:
- This portion you gonna make now is called ‘Winglet‘. It helps to stabilize your flight.
- Fold on both sides like shown in the Fig.9 and straighten them to 90 Degrees.
Step 10:
- Reform the reconn plane like a ‘T’ just as shown in Fig.10
- After that, if possible do make a dihedral shape.
Step 11:
- There is actually no step 11 my friend. LOL!
- You free to roar the sky! Go on!
Reconn flying technique:
Launch it smoothly with maximum 30 – 40 degrees in angle, if it fails, tweak the tail wing slightly up and try again. Try different angles and forces now! Wow, That’s how one learns properly with more trying and flying. Kudos!
